Description:

LEVEL 1:

Basic safety
Basic construction math
Identify different tools & equipment and their function & operate them properly
Basic understanding of construction drawings
Identify different system materials and components
Basic communication/employability skills
Complete basic tasks in a safe & timely manner while still under the direct supervision of the Lead Fitter or Foreman
Must be cleared to drive company vehicles

LEVEL 2, plus the above:

Different hanging and support methods and install piping accordingly

Identify and operate different types of general purpose valves

Understand and explain general trade math 

Read and understand shop drawings

Identify, explain, and install to code compliance basic sprinklers on wet & dry systems & set-up each 

Employee should be able to complete general tasks in a safe & timely manner with less direct supervision of the lead fitter or foreman

LEVEL 3, plus the above:

Standpipes, water supplies, & specific application sprinklers
Complete general and some specific tasks in a safe & timely manner without direct supervision of the lead fitter or foreman
Can install basic wet & dry pipe systems without direct supervision. Have basic coordination skills with other trades
Must report to a lead foreman or superintendent

LEVEL 4, plus the above:

Deluge/Preaction systems, fire pumps, and water storage tanks

System design and layout and explain the different types of systems

Understand and explain reasons for unsatisfactory sprinkler performance 

Explain the importance of regular inspections and maintenance  c Understand special extinguishing methods

Company & industry procedures and documentation requirements

Can effectively communicate and coordinate with other trades and GC for wet, dry, deluge/preaction, & standpipe systems and set-up each

Can explain all the responsibilities of the foreman

Must be able to prepare complete and detailed daily job tickets & reports

Must report to a lead foreman or superintendent

Education:

Highschool or GED, required

AFSA certification, a plus*

NICET certifications, a plus

OSHA 10 or 30 hour card, a plus

CPR/First Aid card, a plus
